Governance Works
Governance Works provides support to the boards VCOs to ensure they have the necessary understanding of governance and the skills to fulfil their roles and responsibilities. They can provide training,expertise and guidance and resources.

Governance Works have made available a learning pack for trainers and advisers to use in voluntary and community sector organisations or with social enterprises - Essential Business Understanding for VCS boards.

It is a very useful pack of materials that should be of interest to all trainers and advisers working in the VCS.
Whilst relevant to governance it has a wider remit around social enterprise understanding in the VCS
They have also developed a short training course (1 or 2 days) using these materials, together with a further module on good governance. There are two versions of this course - one aimed at trainers and advisers and one
aimed to be for board members and paid organisation staff themselves.
