Welcome
Welcome to the Governance Support Programme.
What is governance?
Governance is concerned with accountability and responsibilities; it describes how the organisation is directed and controlled. In particular, governance is concerned with organisation, management and policies.
The Charity Commission have published a code for the voluntary and Community Sector:
An effective board will provide good governance and leadership by:
- Understanding their role
- Ensuring delivery of organisational purpose
- Working effectively both as individuals and a team
- Exercising effective control
- Behaving with integrity
- Being open and accountable
